Seminar On Internship: My First Seminar At NIT Patna

On December 9, 2018, I had an opportunity to organize a seminar on Internship at my own college, National Institute Of Technology Patna(NITP).
Recently I got selected on Internshala Student Partner program, where they mailed me to organized a Seminar On Internship.

At first, my reaction is, What a heck seminar! without any previous experiences....but after some time, I remember one famous quote
"Tomorrow’s work do today, today’s work now. If the moment is lost, the work be done how?"
and I said to my self “OKAY” Let Do This.
So I just filled a form for organizing a seminar at Internshala and waited for there response after a week I got a mail with some kit, where they mention how to perform, Topics & things that should be mention on speech etc.
After looking into ISP Seminar write-Up, I just fell that something is missing out here, I mean the content is not appropriate. So as a blogger I create my own content according to the guidelines of Internshala and added LinkedIn roles because from last year I am also the part of LinkedIn Campus Editor Program. And I had a little experience and small story to tell my college-mates.
So at first, I went to meet Dr.Pradip Kumar Sukul Sir, our very active faculty member from Department Of Chemistry, Nitp. I took his permission and booked a seminar hall at my college.
I came hostel and posted my Event details on my Fb page along with these lines:
“Internship Seminar by J.K.J

Topics to be discussed-

These words just gave me goosebumps! I can’t tell you the happiness when I saw these incredible words.
I can’t tell you the happiness of mine when I was coming back from there as I was going to be the speaker tomorrow.
I know the night I spent at my hostel room with lots of excitement about the seminar and thinking just about that how I’ll start and what will be the criteria etc.
Well, after doing some practice I tried to sleep but for creating content and preparing future plans, I didn't sleep at all. maybe its happen because of the excitement level I had or a regular habit of mine, I think you guys are already aware of boys at Engineering Hostel Right!

TIPS I LEARNED FOR SPEECH

As it was my very first experience even I prepared my presentation slide and content to speak at the seminar, I just started thinking of that How to deliver my speech when I’ll start my session?
I started searching on YouTube about tips on “How to deliver a good speech” and found some videos, that was interested.
I learned quite a few things from YouTube and also from my personal experiences that were (I’ll disclose later may be on another article/blog because I don't want it to make more longer).
The day before my seminar, I went to the same place (where my seminar held) where I met Dr.Swapan Gosh (Director-Nova Surface-Care Centre Pvt. Ltd., Research for Tomorrow’s Technology, Mumbai, India.) it's my second chance to encounter him at same place.Dr.Gosh is a successful entrepreneur and scientist, he gave the preeminent contribution on Nano Technology and Paints in India.

I asked him some question regarding my startups and he nicely replied to them, we got an opportunity to discuss our future project with him. And the most remembered things from that talk which I want to mention here is "Have you watch Amitabh Bachhan Film Naseeb ?".I replied, I don't remember. He told "There was a precise scene where Amitabh is fighting with boxer in ring while he got punch on him again and again, while heroine takes entry and Amitabh request him to leave him for a second but boxer refuse it and continue his fighting then he request a girl, please give me a second let me finished this first. after that, he surpasses and wins the game". He also added that today nation wants honest entrepreneur or a person on their business and company because there is very few but one day will come when honesty will be more compared to dishonest at that time swindling will be on priority.

Here I am attaching the video too.
Its really give me some lesson, which I wanted for a long time. and I will always thank full to Dr. gosh sir for his Kind Vision.
That was the moment, I want to remember those lesson for my entire life.

I WENT ON “SEMINAR”

So, the moment came, I went there for giving a speech.
When I went there, Before my seminar starts I am checking all the thing are right or not on the podium. I started to check my slides where I meet Dr.Abhishek Choudhary(Director of Nanobiz India Pvt. Ltd., Pune, India). He told me your slides are pretty impressive and look good and then he added that he is also a recruiter who selects students from looking his LinkedIn Profile. My interest become double when I heard that then I start a short discussion, what they look first? what are the important things they notice on student profiles? How many Certificate are matters to them?.. etc.
You can say a Proud Moment or what but I can say that was the really Proud Moment for me as the person who is successful has appreciated me for my work which I was involved from weeks. WOW!

When I started the seminar, I took that few tips in my mind, I started the seminar with giving my intro first “ I am here for the seminar based on internships & how LinkedIn and internshala help you to get one. lemme introduce myself first, My name is Jyotish Kr. Jha. I am pursuing my master degree in chemistry from Nit Patna also known as National Institute Of technology Patna, Apart from that, I am Campus Editor at LinkedIn as well as an InternShala Student Partner representing LinkedIn & Internshala in Nit Patna, President at Science and Engineering Innovation Club, Department representative continual from last three years. also the Director at Fliza PVT. LTD. (Which is tours and travel company) And the founder of Abroadpedia, TechToTeach, Navyakalam and also the part-time blogger & Technical geek.”
And Then after some slide, I told them my story “Almost a Year ago, I got an opportunity to become one of the members of LinkedIn Campus Editor program to represent my college. After which I got a couple of job offers from widely known companies like Dubizzle/OLX, Flipkart, Nepali Blog Moderator position etc through my LinkedIn Profile. Also got 30K+ love and support through my article, Learned many things from my team members, LinkedIn Editors (India). And got amazing connections as well as friends :)”
They all are showing their admiration after this lines.
After that, I told them that how it all starts with me? What is my Job at LinkedIn Campus Editor Program and Internshala Student Partner?

I describe it “Our responsibilities include:

HIGHLIGHTS

The seminar is one of those frightening words at our campus that you may not have encountered before you start, but will certainly hear a fair few times in the first few weeks. It’s really nothing to be scared of – it’s like a small class which is led by a tutor, but usually encourages participation more than any of the classes you’ve previously had might have done.preparation was key and solution for it.
This seminar was conducted in my college hall with hundreds of people as it was my first experience, I can’t forget it.

It was not for many peoples who already an expert but for those who are struggling for their careers and want better Internships opportunity.
The main aim of mine was to motivate people around me. and all were so much energetic and came for getting more and more knowledge and Information I have.
Let’s see that what I speak there (in nutshell).

  1. As I said above that I started the seminar by introducing myself and telling a story of mine.
  2. I started telling about ‘How to land your dream internship through LinkedIn as well as Internshala!’

  4. Sharing Some Fact, I would like to start by sharing a fact with you that 2 million students graduate every year. But, only 7% of them are employable! Strange, right?
  5. The reason why we have such a low employment rate.
  6. Asking question. Do you want to be a part of the 7% of students who are employable or be a part of the majority? The first one, right?
  7. How to find an internship?
  8. Why Should You Do An Internship?
  9. Tips to highlight their profile, & how it helps.
